Google Play Music Manager Error Uploading File
The slow, painful method
- Click here to go to the Google Play Music Manager folio. Download and install the app as yous would whatever other app.
- Open the app and click on the Download tab along the top of the window.
- Select the option to download your library. We recommend the selection with the biggest number (usuallyDownload my library) considering information technology contains every song you purchased or uploaded.
- It will ask you well-nigh a download location. You can choose iTunes, your computer's music folder, or a folder of your choosing. We recommend a folder of your choosing so you tin can sort your music subsequently. Click theCommencement download button to begin.
- Start watching the unabridged extended editions of the Lord of the Rings movies because the download is going to be very slow.
- Note: This method doesn't actually stop. If you stop it and resume, information technology will start over about one-half of the time, re-downloading songs you already downloaded.
Jokes aside, this is really not a terrible method if you don't have a lot of music, but quickly gets worse and worse the larger your drove is. This is the only method that doesn't require a specific browser and the merely time nosotros'd recommend it is if yous can't or won't download and use Google Chrome.
The faster, better method (recommended for anybody)
- Note: This method requires yous to use Google Chrome browser. It works on the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge if you enable the ability to install Chrome extensions.
- Open the Google Play Music web player by clicking here.
- Click theiii-line menu in the tiptop left corner of the window. Select theSettings option.
- Whorl downwards until you lot discover theMusic from this computer section. Tap theAdd Your Music button and follow the instructions. We recommend pointing it at a folder with no music since you're here to download your music, not add more.
- Note: You lot besides demand to download a Google Play Music extension for the proper sections to prove up if you haven't already installed it.
- After that, 2 new sections should appear in the Settings. The first isDownload folder. Configure that to the folder where you want your downloaded music to go. The second isDownload your library. Click that to download your library.
- In the bottom left corner, an orange arrow icon will appear, tap that to view the progress of the download in your browser.
This method downloads music vastly faster than the previous method by a large margin and it's also fairly like shooting fish in a barrel to do. Plus, you don't have to download and install a horrible app to do the piece of work as it all takes place in the browser. Use this 1, trust us.
The manual method
- Note: This method requires y'all to apply Google Chrome browser. It works on the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge if yous enable the ability to install Chrome extensions.
- Open up the Google Play Music web actor by clicking hither.
- Navigate to whatever song or album you own in Google Play Music. Information technology tin music yous've purchased or music you lot've uploaded.
- Tap the3-dot menu push button on the album or the individual songs and select theDownload option.
- An orange and white arrow icon volition appear in the bottom left corner of the window. Click that to view download progress.
This is actually just a manual, more granular version of the faster, ameliorate method. Y'all tin simply select the songs y'all desire. However, unless your download messed upwardly and you need to grab a specific album or vocal that the other download methods missed, you shouldn't need this one at all.
Download from iOS and Android
Unfortunately, the official Google Play Music app doesn't have a method to download your library to your mobile devices at this time. Nosotros looked in the app settings on both platforms and there are no options to download your library. You can but fix playlists to download for offline listening and unfortunately that's non the same thing equally downloading your own drove for backup purposes.
Nosotros attempted a few methods to bypass this, including using a browser in desktop mode and trying to pull a fast one on Google Play Music into letting us download something. Nosotros figured out how to become all the way to theDownload album option (using Firefox), but we never got the site to actually ship us any files because we could non install the proper extension. If this changes, nosotros'll let you know, but for the time being, it's non possible to download your music for the purposes of backing up your library to your phone.
Download from Chrome Bone
Yous tin can actually download your library with Chrome OS and it's the same process as with Windows and Mac. Since Chrome OS comes with Chrome Browser by default, we highly recommend the quicker, better method or the manual method described to a higher place. Additionally, nosotros recommend using an SD card or an external hard drive to store the music since many Chromebooks don't come up with a whole ton of storage.
If we missed annihilation, audio off in the comments! Nosotros're not sure how Google intends on managing your purchased music once it retires the Google Play Music service, just we imagine yous can withal buy things and download them afterward every bit well since that is a separate service from streaming.
